You never know if you don’t ask..
Today while surfing, I saw a restaurant on the beach I haven’t ever been to (its kind of older and run down). But its in a great location directly on the beach with a little beachfront seating area. I thought it would be a perfect spot for launching a trial version of Bountiful Bowls (the healthy / organic / vegetarian quinoa bowls concept).
I decided to go in and see if I could find the owner and just see what his goal is with the restaurant. Long story short, he didn’t want to sell or rent, BUT he’s open to sharing the land he occupies as long as it makes him money.
Which means I can put up signage and patio furniture and test launch Bountiful Bowls directly on the beach almost immediately with no major downside risk or long term contracts. Bonus: its a few steps from where I live so it looks like its going to be a bounty of bountiful bowls for me or my guests. 🙂
We still have to finalize some details but the lesson here is that instead of waiting for the right time, or a lease on the beach to become available, or lengthy permit process or the millions of dollars necessary to purchase the land.. just get busy taking action, you never know if you don’t ask, and the path might be shorter than you think if you ask the right person at the right time with the right offer.
